New on the Cairns Ukulele Festival program is the Ukulele Buskers Walk, an opportunity for ukulele players to share the joy of ukulele with the general public, bring life to the CBD and get everyone into the spirit of the Cairns Ukulele Festival.
Four locations along Shields Street will be reserved especially for ukulele buskers during the core festival days, 25-28 August.
Buskers in the CBD are required to be licensed to busk, so anyone who would like to be a part of this program will need to apply via the Cairns Ukulele Festival. Selection and programming of ukulele buskers at the Ukulele Buskers Walk spots is at the discretion of the Cairns Ukulele Festival.
It is therefore essential to have at least one sample recording of yourself (or your group) featuring a ukulele in order to be considered.
Anyone is welcome to apply and the festival in particular is looking for youngsters looking to hone their performance craft (and earn a bit of pocket momey while doing it!).
