Hula dancing workshop

Tomoka and her hula dance group stunned last year’s festival audiences with her performance during the Community Concert Day. This year she will host a free hula dance workshop on the Esplanade.

Screening “Under the Boardwalk: A Ukulele Love Story”

Under the Boardwalk, A Ukulele Love Story is the story of how a small house party in an out of the way town in California grows into the biggest ukulele club in the world. It is also the story of how a small instrument makes a long journey from Portugal to Hawaii to the mainland, lands in people’s hearts, and creates a uniquely Hawaiian-American musical tradition that is currently experiencing a world wide revival.

The Cairns Ukulele Festival is held in Cairns, North Queensland Australia. The festival runs for several days and comprises a range of events, such as tours of the region and concerts by ukulele royalty from around the globe. Venues are on the Great Barrier Reef, in tropical rainforest and have views over the Pacific Ocean.
