WR song, procedures and Ltd edition poster

Tomorrow, Tuesday July 1st, the Cairns Ukulele Festival kicks off with a free screening of ‘Blue Hawaii’ at the Sports Arena in the Casino. And it’s only a matter of days before we make another attempt to break the record ‘largest ukulele ensemble’.

World Record Song ‘Dance the Night Away’

US festival artist Bartt Warburton is gearing up for a massive Eddy Finn Ukulele Mystery Tour and recorded a ukulele version of the World Record Song, ‘Dance the Night Away’ and also made a song chart. Check them out on his web site.

Our festival web site contains the original music video and alternate chart.

The attempt – procedure

For the attempt to be valid we need details of each participant. Therefore, each participant will need to register individually. You can save time and pre-register online.

The registration booth will be on the terminal side of Fogarty Park, at the marina end, and you will be given your grid allocation there on the day. Please be there early on the day; it will make the process of getting ready a lot more fun and easy for everyone.

Pre-registration / registration booth opens at midday on the day.

Upon registration you will be given a ticket and a wristband to identify your grid. You must wear this wristband at all times until the attempt is finished. You need to hang on to your ticket as well. This ticket will be taken off you once the grid has been locked down. This ticket is our verification (and participant identification) system.

Grid lock down is at 4.30pm at which time we will get ready for the attempt – you need to be in position in the grid for the world record prior to this.

The attempt is part of the Ukulele Community Concert Day, a day full of free entertainment by ukulele clubs, schools, and artists, held in Fogarty Park from midday onwards.

Want to be a part and help but don’t play? Great! We need you too! We need 75 adjudicators, so please nominate yourself here.
