Second artist announcement

Hawaiian superstar Herb Ohta Jr., introducing Japanese duo fulare_pad and back by popular demand: Craig Chee!

“We’re so chuffed to have one of the world’s most prolific instrumentalists, Herb Ohta Jr. from Hawaii, on the bill this year, as well as acts like Craig Chee (Hawaii) and fulare_pad (Japan) who are full of gusto and enthusiasm for the instrument”, festival organiser Gaby Thomasz said. With nine solo albums, eight duet albums in circulation, and contributions on more than 40 recordings as well as a string of awards, Herb Ohta Jr. is one of Hawaii’s ukulele superstars. “Craig Chee, also from Hawaii, made a big impression on festival attendees last year, not only with his music, but also his personality. During last year’s festival Craig teamed up with other festival musicians and local musicians including Ryo Montgomery and Tiffany Amber Smith, creating some of the most memorable festival moments together on the big stage of the Tanks Arts Centre. We look forward to having him here again! Osaka based guitar and ukulele duo fulare_pad‘s energy is so infectious, every time I see them play, it puts a big smile on my face”. The guitar and ukulele duo from Osaka have been making waves in the ukulele world in recent months with spectacular performances at the Hawaii and Thailand Ukulele Festivals. “I am sure the Cairns Ukulele Festival attendees will welcome the introduction to this duo!”
