Cairns Ukulele Festival announces first of many Australian acts

Standard

Hang on to your hats and ukes, because we are now ready to announce a huge line-up of Australian acts! Today we announce AJ Leonard’s Tropical Lounge and the divine Renee Searles.

AJ Leonard LoungeThe Cairns Ukulele Festival is looking forward to Melbourne ukulele maestro AJ Leonard with this band. AJ Leonard’s Tropical Lounge is an innovative versatile group whose repertoire includes original music from master ukulele player A J Leonard and classic, swing and island music from the 20’s and 30’s. Their unique blend of ukuleles, strings, vocal harmonies and percussion has been popular with music events all over Australia.

Renee Searles from Byron Bay brings to the stage a touch of glamour and mystique from a bygone era. Shes writes elegant sepia-tinged songs of love, longing and desire. With a voice of angelic beauty, she weaves an ethereal tapestry of lush melodies, lilting poetry and old timey blues.
Accompanied by Marcus Patterson on guitars/ukuleles/lap steel and her tiny friend the ukulele, these two lovers of dance breathe life into the lost words of the human heart……sensual, romantic and heartachingly beautiful.

  1. Awesome, I am so looking forward to the Uke festival. My own Uke playing has come a long way since the last festival. It goes everywhere with me and is played at every opportunity. The Uke festival is a great opportunity to learn more from the masters.
